Counsel to Counsel

Consulting with attorneys on business-specific litigation and discovery.

Business cases turn on how a company actually ran. Who had authority to sign. What the books were really tracking. Which documents exist because the business needed them, and which exist because someone wanted a record. If that is the terrain your case sits on, a second set of eyes from someone who has operated companies can save you weeks.

Where I Help:

  • Discovery Strategy. What to ask for, what it will actually show, and what a business of this type is likely to have kept.
  • Document review support. Reading financials, operating statements, and internal records for what they reveal about how decisions were made.
  • Deposition Preparation. The questions that get a business owner to explain what really happened, drawn from twenty years of having been the person on the other side of that table.
  • Transaction forensics. Reconstructing how a deal was structured and where the terms diverged from the parties’ conduct.

How I work with you

I consult with you. I do not appear, I do not take the file, and I am not trying to be second chair. You keep the client and the case. Engagements are scoped and priced in writing before anything begins.

Why me

For more than twenty years I built and ran companies before I practiced law. I read a business the way an owner does, which is usually not the way it appears in the pleadings. That perspective is the whole of what I am offering here.
